What type of beer goes in Guinness Stew?
The not-so-secret aspect that goes into Guinness Stew that provides the sauce the deep flavour and shade is Guinness Beer.

Guinness Beer is so darkish it's nearly black and it’s why the gravy of the stew is such a lovely deep brown colour. Guinness may be a lot richer than most beers, that you may see simply by watching on the thick creamy head (the foam) that Guinness is famed for.

It’s lovely extensively accessible those days – right right here in Australia, you’ll discover it at most liquor stores.

Irish Beef and Guinness Stew

Meat in Guinness Stew – red meat OR lamb
Traditionally, Guinness Stew is made with lamb. But in lots of elements of the international adding right right here in Australia and North America, Guinness Stew is additional normally made with beef.

I wish the Irish aren’t offended! 🙂 I’ve made it with lamb and to be honest, I do desire it with beef.

Tip: Use giant chunky hunks of beef. Don’t even assume about utilizing tiny cubes of beef. It wants to be chunky items so it may be cooked for a looooong time to get all that flavour into the sauce! If the items of red meat are too small,  they'll prepare dinner too quick and fall aside within the stew earlier than it’s had sufficient time to grow the deep flavours.

The one factor I do differently to most Guinness Beef Stew recipes, adding very traditional Irish recipes, is to thicken the sauce a little with flour. If you don’t do that step, the sauce is fairly thin and watery, and whereas the flavour is nonetheless lovely, I actually desire the sauce to be additional like a skinny gravy.

Serve Beef and Guinness Stew over mashed potato or cauliflower mash for a low carb option. And what about a few warm crusty Irish Soda Bread to mop your bowl clean??

I am so completely satisfied I even have a bathtub of this within the freezer. I cooked most of the day but gave all of it away. The minute I hit Publish on this post, I’m going to get cracking reheating a few of this Irish Stew for dinner tonight! – Nagi x
