Pineapple Blueberry Dump Cake and the Joys of Small Town Life
Saturday we have been heading by means of downtown and pulled over and stopped to permit a funeral procession to pass.  The crossing streets had been closed by police officials to permit the procession to cross with out having to treat site visitors and because the procession passed, every officer eliminated his hat as a present of respect.

Ingredients

  • 1 (20-ounce) can beaten pineapple with juice, undrained
  • 1 (20-ounce) can blueberry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box butter cake mix
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9X13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
  • Empty can of pineapple in dish and unfold to conceal the bottom. Top with blueberry pie filling, unfold evenly. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top.  Sprinkle pecans over cake mix. Drizzle with 3/4 cup melted butter.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes or till golden brown.  Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

I had no concept who had died, but we do issues like this within the South as a strategy to present respect for one another.

As we have been sitting there waiting, I was struck with one among these moments the place I discovered how a lot I love residing in a small town.  Each vacation right right here's met with city-wide celebrations regardless of no matter if it’s the 4th of July parade and fireworks display, the Mardi Gras parade, the Christmas tree lighting, etc.  I personally understand the recent and NULL past mayors and the editor of our hometown newspaper.  It’s quite Mayberry right right here – and I love it.  Sure we miss out on a few big-city things, but I just like the sluggish tempo here.  It’s residence for me.

Not lengthy once we had gotten residence after Jack was born, my cousins introduced us a delicious dinner that was topped off with this AWESOME dessert.  It’s the proper mix of candy and salty and has a huge crunch.  Honestly, I LOVE it for breakfast.  Be certain to attempt it warm, it’s super-delicious!
